A Delay Occurs When You Open a Mapped Network Drive on a Novell NetWare or UNIX NFS Server IMPORTANT: This article contains information about modifying the registry. Before you modify the registry, make sure to back it up and make sure that you understand how to restore the registry if a problem occurs. SYMPTOMS When you use Windows Explorer on a Windows XP-based client to open mapped drives on a Novell NetWare server or a UNIX NFS server, there may be a delay in opening the drive. Folder listings on the mapped drives may take up to 10 seconds to appear. RESOLUTION Service pack information To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Windows XP. Hotfix information A
supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to
correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to
computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may
receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by
this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Windows XP
