Host: (noun) A computer connected to a network. (verb) To store
and manage another company's technology and/or content on your own servers.
host ID :The
portion of the IP address that identifies a particular computer within a
particular network ID.
host table:
The HOSTS or LMHOST file that
contains lists of known IP addresses mapped
to host names or NetBIOS
computer names. Windows 98 uses this for local name resolution if other
methods are not available.
host application:The
application, such as Visual Basic, into which an ActiveX designer is
loaded.

HRD (human
resource development): 1) A term coined by Leonard Nadler to describe the organized

personal growth. 2) Another name for the field and profession sometimes

HRESULT :An
opaque result handle defined to be zero for a successful return from a
function, and nonzero if error or status information is to be returned.
HSP : Host signal
processor. In modems, a modem that depends on the host CPU (the Pentium,
PowerPC, etc., in the main computer) for part or most of the data
processing.

HTML (Hypertext
Markup Language):
The programming language used to create documents for display on the World
Wide Web.

The Hypertext Markup Language is a set of formatting codes which allows
documents to be transferred and viewed by remote computers over the Internet
through web browser software (i.e. Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet
Explorer).
HTTP (Hypertext
Transfer Protocol):
The set of rules and standards that govern how information is transmitted on
the World Wide Web.
Hub: A network device that connects communication lines together.
Human Interface Device (HID)
specification:
The device class definition
developed by the USB standards group for HIDs. Serves as the basis for the
WDM input device support, and unifies input devices by providing flexible
data reporting, typeless data, and arrayed and variable input and output.
hyperlink :Also
called simply a link. A way
of jumping to another place on
the Internet. Hyperlinks usually appear in a different format from regular
text. You initiate the jump by clicking the link.
Hypermedia: Applications or documents that contain dynamic
links to other media, such as audio, video, or graphics files.
Hypertext:
A system for retrieving information from servers
on the Internet using World Wide Web client software. Hypertext consists of
key words or phrases in a WWW page that are linked electronically to other
Webpages.

Hypertext Transfer Protocol
(HTTP) :The
underlying protocol by which Web clients and servers communicate. HTTP is
an application-level protocol
for distributed, collaborative, hypermedia information systems. It is a
generic, stateless, object-oriented protocol. A feature of HTTP is the
typing and negotiation of data representation, allowing systems to be
built independently of the data being transferred.
