After you defined a Dial-up Connection, I strongly suggest to verify the settings  www.tartoos.com
(and for some Internet connections, you MUST define additional parameters ! ) :

		Goto "Network and Dial-up Connections" and Right-Click on your connection to select "Properties"
		Tab: General Here you could enter/correct the access phone number to your ISP. Make sure, that the check-mark is set for "Showing the icon in the Taskbar when connected".
		tab: Options Here you can customize the "Dialing Options". I suggest to "Prompt for Name and Password", it will display the values defined during the definition allowing to verify and modify them. As part of the Redialing options, you can define, after how much "Idle Time" the connection should be terminated by "Hanging Up"
