CAUSE
The Microsoft
Personal Web Server for Windows 95, version 4.0, which is included with the
Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack, does not support remote authoring of FrontPage
webs.
This behavior is by design of Microsoft Personal Web Server version 4.0 for
Windows 95. The purpose of the inability to author against the Web server is
to increase security for the Web server. Because Windows 95 and Windows 98
do not allow the user to set permissions on the local computer, the security
of the Web server cannot be controlled locally. Because of this, the
Microsoft Personal Web Server version 4.0 only allows users of the local
computer to author on it.
